Throughout the season, Farmers' markets hold special events. They might be celebrating a civic holiday, or the start of berry season, or perhaps tagging onto other community celebrations. But you can bet that they will be educational and fun. Feel free to join in!

BCAFM Conference & AGM: For the Love of Farmers' Markets

Westerly Hotel & Convention Centre, 1590 Cliffe Avenue, Courtenay, BC

This year’s conference will provide networking and educational opportunities for the entire farmers’ market community - farmers, crafters, small-scale food processors, managers, board members & agricultural leaders. The theme and keynote at this year’s conference will be “Integrity at the Market”, by the Executive Director of the Farmers Market Coalition, Stacy Miller. See the website for info on other sessions. Optional professional development workshops will also be offered on March 2nd & 4th.

MarketSafe Course

Westerly Hotel & Convention Centre, 1590 Cliffe Avenue, Courtenay, BC

MarketSafe is a food safety training program for farmers and producers who make, bake or grow products to sell at local farmers' markets, farm gates or other types of temporary food markets. MarketSafe was developed by the BC FOODSAFE Secretariat in partnership with the BC Association of Farmers’ Markets, and is supported by the Regional Health Authorities, the BC Centre for Disease Control, and the BC Ministry of Agriculture and Lands.
