Coquitlam Farmers Market

The Coquitlam Farmers Market Society is a non-profit,
volunteer-driven organization, which has organized one of the
longest running suburban farmer's markets in the Lower Mainland. Developed in 1997 as a Community Economic Development project
at Simon Fraser University, the Coquitlam Farmers Market began
with an empty parking lot, a 13-week season and approximately 15
vendors. The Market has grown substantially since that time, and
now boasts a six-month season from Mother's day to Halloween, a
growing and diverse mix of vendors, and strong involvement by
community groups who provide education to the public on local
programs and services. The Market has also become a destination
place for Tri-City (Port Moody, Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam)
residents and attracts visitors from neighbouring municipalities
from Maple Ridge to New Westminster.
The success of the Coquitlam Farmers Market derives largely
from its focus on celebrating what is "made, baked, grown,
and raised" in British Columbia. Our vendors include farm
producers from the Okanagan, Fraser Valley, and Denman Island, to
bakers and crafters who are local to the Lower Mainland. Our
market reflects and supports small-scale family farming and
home-based cottage industries, provides a place for education and
community outreach, and acts as a unique gathering space for the community.
