Blueberry and Sorrel Smoothie

Blueberry and Sorrel Smoothie

- Courtesy of UBC Farm

In this recipe the sorrel is utilized for a tart lemon like flavor, depending on your personal taste you may want to vary the amount of Honey and sorrel. If you are already trying kale in your smoothie, why not try sorrel?

Note: Sorrel does contain high amounts oxalic acid – which is what makes sorrel seem tart. Other greens that are high in oxalic acid include kale, chard, spinach, turnip greens and beet greens (even chocolate!). Those with kidney stones, gall stones or severe calcium deficiency problems are advised to limit their intake of oxalic acid.

    •    1.5 lbs. of fresh blueberries
    •    3 Oz of sorrel stalk and all
    •    1.5 Table spoon of UBC Farm Honey

Add all ingredients into a blender and slowly add cold water until the mixture becomes smooth.
Makes 10 medium portions.
