Farmers' markets operate in every type of community across British Columbia from cities and suburbs to rural communities. Markets vary in size and sophistication, from large sheltered public markets to a few farmers with their trucks parked next to each other in a parking lot or farm field. Now that's fresh!
There are several pilot programs going on that markets and vendors can get involved in. Click on the program titles below for details:
The Selling at BC's Farmers' Markets series includes profiles of BC's farmers' markets, market customers, and vendors. The vendors are also profiled for each of the following product groups: vegetable, fruit, fruit & vegetables, and meat. Each profile is presented as a four-page pamphlet.
We are pleased to announce the availability of the Farmers' Market Nutrition and Coupon Program (FMNCP) Resource Kit, a tool designed to help communities launch and sustain their own community-based coupon programs. The FMNCP Resource Kit is a step-by-step guide for farmers' markets and community groups, with tips, templates and resources from four grass roots community-run FMNCPs (Fort St. James, Revelstoke, Squamish and Surrey). This resource kit builds on the success of the province-wide Coupon Project that was managed by the BC Association of Farmers' Markets from 2007–2009.
