With the increased popularity of farmers' markets many shoppers want to know
where a nearby market is located. Our website market directory will provide
your market dates, hours, location, and contact information. Member markets
have the additional benefit of having a more detailed description of their
market on the website, including posting upcoming special events and a link
to your own website.

2. Access to Special Pricing
- Bulk discounts on the purchase of vendor bags and Caravan canopies
- Reduced workshop fees
- Group Insurance Policy – Group purchase package of $325 per annum for up to $2 million coverage from the
Co-operators. The insurance package is available to full and associate members.
3. Access to Special Programs
- Learn more about food safety and how to manage Boards and Market Managers by attending an upcoming workshop
- Access to copies of the brochure, "Grow with Us!" available for you to download or to obtain a limited number of
hard copies for distributing to farmers who may be interested in selling at your market.
4. Opportunity to participate in the Farmers' Market Nutrition and Coupon Program
- In 2007, the BCAFM implemented a pilot project to test the Nutrition and Coupon Program in five markets in BC.
This program increased access to fresh locally grown BC farm products for low income, pregnant women and low-income
families with children.
- Funding for the 2008 and 2009 program has been received and we are offering the Program to ten more markets in
2008 and then ten more in 2009!
5. Receive Tips on how to attract Chefs to Shop at your Market
- Participate in the Chef Friendly Farmers' Markets Program and discover how your market can attract more chefs to
shop at your market. The Chef friendly logo is available for downloading on your point of sale materials plus the
Special Projects Coordinator is available to provide you with useful program tips.
6. Use of Farmers' Market Signs on Highways
- Arrange Ministry of Highways approved sign(s) for your BCAFM urban farmers market.
7. Receive the Farmers' Markets Newsletter
- "Market Matters" is published regularly to keep you updated on the activities of the BCAFM and member
markets. An excellent source of information on new programs.
8. Right to Vote for BCAFM Executive and Directors
- Shape the future direction of the BCAFM by joining the Board of Directors or volunteering on a Committee.
Associate Membership benefits are:
- Free website promotion on www.bcfarmersmarket.org
- Access to the newsletter in either electronic or hard copy.
- Discounted rates for workshops.
